Round up of the Leamington Business Awards

Following on from our blog announcing that we had been nominated for the ‘Lockdown Hero’ award at the Leamington Business Awards, we thought it would be a great idea to share with you what happened on Friday 11th December 2020.

For those of you who don't already know, the Leamington Business Awards is specifically designed to suit businesses of all sizes and stages. The broad range of categories means there is something to suit everyone, including specific awards for non-profit making organisations and new start-ups. The Leamington Business Awards is a not-for-profit awards scheme designed and developed to celebrate local business success in the town. These awards celebrate the fantastic work being done by businesses and individuals within Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Not only that, they also raise money for local charities.

This year’s theme was the Leamington Business ‘Resilience’ Awards, organised by Talk Business UK. The awards were held as part of a virtual ceremony hosted by local DJ Kirsty Leahy from Noisegate Media Studio in Leamington Spa in the evening on Friday 11th December.

As well as a special performance from dance circus theatre company Motionhouse, the event featured a message to businesses from Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western.

The ‘Lockdown Hero’ award that we were nominated for recognises a Leamington business that has gone ‘above and beyond’ during 2020. The business may have provided products to vulnerable groups free of charge, offered their services pro-bono to struggling local businesses, or spread positivity during challenging times. In this category, you can either nominate yourself, or nominate another business.

It's safe to say that we were completely blown away to even be nominated for this award, especially alongside the two other Leamington-based businesses that were finalists in this category: The Barn Kitchen (Enchanted Tea Room) and Baabzi Indian Takeaway.

We just wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate the winner, Baabzi Indian Takeaway. As well as this, congratulations are in order for the winners of the other two awards: CJ's Events Warwickshire, and Heartbreak Productions. And we can't forget to also say well done to all of the other businesses nominated during these awards after such a difficult and challenging year, we've come back fighting!

Baabzi have been actively involved in the local community throughout the year, including meal deliveries to Warwick and Birmingham Children’s Hospitals. The team also supplied nutritious meals to Helping Hands charity as well as raising more than £10,000 for the NHS Charity through food nights, a charity bike ride and skydive. At the same time the business found ways to fund and supply key workers with PPE.

Now that's a worthy winner in our eyes – congratulations to everyone involved.
